May I know how to solve this error? appreciate any guidelines.
Hi,
In my case I was able to solve the problem in the following way.
Test environment description (maybe this a bit "poor" setup was the reason for the problems in the first place):
- Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition (x32)
- SQL2000 Enterprise Edition
- 8 GB memory
As a default SQL server was configured to run with ~ 3 GB memory => I adjusted this to 1.5 GB just to make sure SQL won't cause any problems by using too much memory.
I started \usr\sap\SID\JC00\j2ee\configtool\configtool.bat and changed default values "-Xms1024m and -Xmx1024m" to "-Xms512m and -Xmx512m". After server restart problem got solved and setup was running fine again.

we are using windows 2003 server standard edition. couldn't change the virtual memory to beyond 4096MB.
is there any other reason java server engine couldn't start?

Hi
1. Installation of SolMan 4.0 can well be done in Win2003 server std edition..
Further, refer to the site - service.sap.com/rkt-solman
and service.sap.com/solutionmanager for docs./ reference and inst. docs.
Choose SolMan 4.0 for ver 4.0
2. Pl. clarify, if you are you installing OR You have completed the installation and java engine is not starting..? Post last 10-15 lines of log file, if you've completed the installation, I'm sure you are yet to complete the installation..
3. Virtual memory too can be increased in Win2003. Choose the other drive (say D:) and "Set" the virtual memory file size, the total should account for larger virtual memory..
Hope this helps
Cheers

my paging file size for other drives have been set to 2048- 4096MB, i tried to increase it and got the following:
enter a maximum page file size that is greater than or equal to the initial page file size, and less than 4096 MB.
other possibilities?

Hi Senthil,
RAM is 3 GB. Virtual Memory- 6344MB.
I tried 'continue with old installation' but failed. same error.
I tried 'new installation', failed. same error.
if it's due to memory problem, is my RAM setting enough? what should i set?
thank you.
regards,
zl

Hi
This is normally due to memory problem.
Do not worry, just stop/abort and restart system and continue installation with "Continue old instllation" option.
BTW, what is your memory available??
Hope this helps
Cheers
