Dear Gurus,
I have a quick question....
Which is the right way to upload Master Data (GL/ Cust/ Vend) into SAP 6.0?
eCATT OR LSMW
Thanks.
regards,
Raj
Hi Raj,
LSMW is the clearer way for Master data. ( It's based on Std program so more secure ! Moreover all cases ( errors ) will be handled in the Batch-input recording)
Hope this helps,
Erwan

Fields which have to be imported are those needed in the system ( some are mandatory and some depends on what and how you handle your MD )
I think functionnal people know which fields are necessary.
In the LSMW tool, you can map the field in input whith the corresponding field in SAP and eventually create rules, ...
LSMW is a powerful tool, and this is difficult to give more explanation on it here,...
You can check SAP Help :

Dear Raj,
You would need to identify the fields that you want to populate and map to the corresponding fields of legacy system. For some of the fields you may want to use constant value or some kind of logic.
You would then prepare layout that should be given to data extraction team (that extracts data from legacy system).
You would define a structure and mapping in LSMW accordingly. You have option to use constant values as well.

Hope this will help.

Naveen.
