We are carrying out an exercise for checking and standardizing the Roles and
authorizations for our users.
What is the best way about going about this task.
We have Core Team - Functional Consultants
We have a team of Abappers
Are there standard roles which we can apply to them in
Development.....Quality......and Production Systems so that they are
restricted within their domain...At least the BASIS related transactions
should not be available.
Any one who has streamlined/worked on Roles and Authorizations can help

Hi,
1.) define the matrix transaction to roles
2.) define the matrix roles to job or position
You can copy existing roles into new roles ... naming like Z.... or Y.....

Hi,
There are some SAP standard roles for all different roles in SAP ( Basis, ABAP ). You can use those and create Z roles as per your requirement

i recomend you to adher to SOX..time you invest on SOX is worthwile..other way is categorised ur users based on their functinality according to the business process and create a matrix and some common teplate roles according to the matrix..assighn based on the CC or PAs..
