Failed to create CMS session (see error log for details) -

I am trying to use a universe with a dashboard using design studio. I managed to login on BI Enterprise. After logging in, I could see list of universes available. After selecting a universe, when I tried to configure query, I got error as "

Failed to create CMS session (see error log for details) ...

com.sap.ip.bi.zen.connectivity.ConnectivityException: Failed to create CMS session

...

Caused by: com.businessobjects.dsl.framework.session.SessionException$InvalidLogonTokenException: Invalid Logon Token

My host file entry contains IP address, server and fully qualified domain name (FQDN).

Version:

Win2008 R2 Standard SP1,

Design Studio 1.6 SP05 Patch1 ,

BI 4.2 SP04 Patch 01

Anybody has idea, how to resolve this error?

Regards,

Frank

    Hi

I have resolved this using the following

There is a SAP note related to this: https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/0002501351

Could you please follow steps 1 to 3 in note 2501351 and then check if this issue still exists. That is :

    1) In the Control Panel -> Programs and Features, remove the Design Studio application, on the Designer client machine. Make sure the the Design Studio client has been closed and is not running.

    2) Delete the actual installation manually also.

    3) As it says in the note please rename

    C:\Users\xxx\Analysis-config
    C:\Users\xxx\Analysis-workspace

    4) Reinstall the required version of the Design Studio client 1.6 SP5 once again.

    5) Following the installation, first verify that when you open an existing application that the application successfully is previewed in the canvas. This is a prerequisite to testing the other issues.

    6) If step 5 passes, check that you can open a Universe connection through the Designer clien tool and that you no longer get the 'Failed to create CMS'

    7) Finally check remaining functionality is working ok.

    Hi Denis,

firewall is temporarily disabled, in the Tomcat server.xml file

the connectionTimeout attribute is increased to 60000

    <Connector port="8080" protocol="HTTP/1.1" connectionTimeout="60000"

Still getting the same error ...

Sounds like there is a firewall between your machine and the BOE server.
You should contact your BOE/BI Platform administrator and request that the proper ports are configured and opened.

Or there is a very short timeout on the web app server thru which you connect to BOE.

We too are getting this error with the same BI and DS versions you mentioned. I have a support ticket with SAP (265224 / 2017) since 12th June and they're still working on it.

When we were on BI: 4.2 SP3 Patch 5 and DS: 1.6 SP4 Patch 1, the error was "Failed to initialize Query Panel". Then it changed to "Failed to create CMS session" after implementing latest BI and DS patches.

    Hi guys,

have you found a solution in the meantime?

We are also running into the "Failed to create CMS session" error while trying to conntect to a universe from with Design Studio 1.6 SP03 Patch1 on BI 4.2 SP04 Patch 02.

    Thank you,

SAP support suggested following some notes around new jars and certificates that's packaged within the latest BI SPs and none worked, issue is still there.

    Hi,

I believe the BI 4.2 SP04 patch 3 should fix the issue for you.

2521113 - Update path for BI platform when you have SAP Lumira server 2.0 SP01 Patch 1 in your installation history
