Pls explain the diference between Item Proposal & Product Proposal.

Item propsal is a list of materials which you can call up during the order entry.

You create the item proposal by trazaction VA51.

Where as Dunamic Product Prossal( which you are refering as Product proposal )is dynamic order entry tool.

Dynamic Product proposal can be determined by different data sources as below.

Order history.

Listed materials .

Excluded materials .

Item proposal .

Customer/material info records .

Customer-specific data sources.

In the dynamic product proposal You can combine/exclude materials from different data sources mentioned above.

Say for example, you could combine the total of all materials in the last n-sales plus all materials in certain item proposals, but excluding those specified in the exclusion.

Dynamic Product Proposal is called /determined as soon as you enter the sold party in the order.

You can reach IMG customising steps by

IMG >SD>Basic functions>Dynamic Product Proposal .

And thses steps are very much self explanatory

hi damodar,

item proposal and product proposal are one and the same thing. Go to VA51 use document type MS and create the item/product proposal. Go to XD02 enter the customer number, SALES AREA DATA - SALES. Here you maintain that item proposal number in the item proposal number and save.

Go to VA01 enter the sold to party, click on EDIT select PROPOSE ITEMS . here you get that item proposal number, you can select with quantity or without quantity.

Item proposal and product proposal both are one and the same. Contains list of frequently buying items for that specified customer.

Probably from version 4.6C they are calling item proposal.

Item Proposals

An item proposal is a list of materials and order quantities that can be copied into the sales order.

Configure a sales order of type product proposal (MS) using transaction VOV8. The path to create an item proposal is Logistics, SD, Master data, Products, Item proposal, Create [VA51].

Steps: VA51, VD02 to include the proposal in the sales view of customer master record, VA01 and select Edit, Propose items.

Due to product proposal also being a term used in Retail, product proposal in SD has been renamed as item proposal.

In the product proposal procedure, you determine:

How the product proposal should be displayed in the sales documents. For instance, if the system accesses the order history, how many columns should be displayed, and the interval at which the historic order quantities should be shown (for example, day, week, or month).

Which data sources the system should access (for example, order history, listing, item proposal)

Sequence of accesses to data sources

Item proposals are stored independently of customers. If a customer frequently buys the same product pallet, you can specify the item proposal number in the customer master record.

The materials of an item proposal can be proposed by the SAP System as an entry tool during order processing. You can then:

Copy the materials as they are

Change the specifications and only copy some materials or partial quantity

Item proposal is the same as product proposal and often SAP uses the two terms

interchangeably. You will not find a document type called Item proposal; however, you will find the document type product proposal.

itemproposal and product proposal are used interchangebly , there are one and the same , u will not find a document type called item proposal but u will only find

product proposal.

Both are same only semantically different. Now i think the term product proposal is seldom used. Only item proposal is used everywhere.
