Is it really worth using SAP XI ???

Hi SAP Friends,

We recently installed SAP XI and started working on integrating SAP and Non-SAP systems. We have a requirement where, as soon as Sales Order is saved, SAP has to get multi-row information from external Oracle database using CURSOR (Calling Oracle Stored Procedure). However, we are unable to make this work. We are on NW 2004s with Support Pack 11 and everbody says this version should support CURSOR.

1. We have gone throu SAP on help at least 10 times and did not get much information. I don't have to tell separately how SAP provides online-help documentation.

2. We have bought all types of XI books available in market, but none explains getting multi-row using Oracle Stored procedure.

3. We contacted SAP also directly by opening a message. The funny part is, they are saying it is Remote consulting. How can a software company like SAP provide a software with no clear documentation and then squeeze money from customers by way of Remote Consulting ?

If we are not successful with CURSOR, we are even thinking to back out of XI and use some other integration solution. I am sure other customers too might be going throu same kind of frustration with SAP.

Regards,

Niranjan

    Hi,

so why don't you get an XI expert for a few days and he/she will

do all the dirty wok for you ? you will see how easy XI is

    without any OSS notes etc.

    Hi Michal,

My point is, why do we have to pay SAP, apart from paying licensing fees ? If they had provided documentation clearly, we would have done it ourselves. I have been working in SAP for more than 8 years and I know how SAP provides online help. How do we feel if we buy an electronic product with no documentation at all AND asking us to figure it out ourselves ?

    Hi Agasthuri,

We have already posted the question and nobody seems to know the answer in SDN forum.

    Hi Niranjan,

    I totally agree with you.

SAP's documentation on CURSORS is REALLY REALLY LOUSY. It is a one liner that says use of CURSORS is supported with NO CONCRETE examples.

SAP global support rather than giving us proper direction and helping us want to jump and say it is remote consulting . They even told us that 'Unfortunately we do not have proper documentation' on CURSORS. Rather that updating their documenation, they want to say 'Remote Consulting' and make money. This is Utterly disgusting.

Some of the so called SAP XI experts can pick up this THREAD and other threads where there is a talk of CURSORS and provide a solution.

This will benefit a lot of people using XI.

So far there are about 5-6 threads that talk about CURSORS and no one have found a solution. This makes me to believe has anyone used CURSORS at all!!!!!!!

    Good luck!!!!!!!!
