Hi Mr.Suren,

As explained by other friends Routing is used in Discrete manufacturing and Rate routing is used for REM-Repetitive manufacturing.

In addional to these types SAP has given 2 more types

1.Reference operation set -Used in Discrete manufacturing.

2.Reference rate routing - Used in REM.

If similar rate routing is been used for producing many materials, then instead of entering(these steps) in rate routing of each material you create a refrence rate routing and you enter the work centres used and the other details. After saving you get a group counter number showing reference rate routing is saved with group XXXXXXXXX.

When you are creating rate routing for a material say A ,after giving the name and plant details in the top you will be able to see an icon "copy from" and you can select the radio button for reference rate routing and give the group counter number. or else without giving it here you have got an option to select the reference rate routing after entering into the operation screen also.

In that particular page in operation overview screen, there will be an icon copy, there you can click that icon and you can give the reference rate routing group counter number and very easily you can create rate routing for N number of material.

Likewise you can use reference operation set while creating routing for a material in Discrete manufacturing. This basically reduces the time in creating routing or rate routing for materials in Discrete & REM respectively

CA01,CA02,CA03-Create,Change,display (routing) respectively.

CA11,CA12,CA13-Create,Change,Display reference operation set Respectively.

CA21,CA22,CA23-Create,Change,Display rate routing respectively.

CA31,CA32,CA33-create,change,display reference rate routing resp.

I hope this will help you.

If useful reward your points.

Thanks & regards

Karthik.

Hi Suren,

Both rate routing and ref rate routings are relevent for the REM manufacturing. There is no deifference as both are task lists to carry out a task at the shopfloor.

The only thing is you cannot use ref rate routing independently, you must have to use this within rate routing. you can create this ref rate routing from CA31 if you have similar opeartions to produce more than one product where activities remain constant. This will only help to avoid creation of rate routing with opeation details data and instead of this you can directly use this ref operation sets. The second use you cannot change the ref routing data from rate routing change mode. You have to change in ref rate routing and same will be updated in rate routings.

If useful rewards to all suitable answerand close this thread.

Hi,

1. Rate routing is used in REM proceess with T code CA21.

2. Suppose u have so many product with different manufacturing process, but some of 3 steps are similar out of 5 steps.

3. In thius scinario you have lot of work to create rate routing insted of this you create reference rate routing for similar 3 steps and insert in the rate routing

4. Thus you can save your time to creation of rate routing.

If u got the solution or stll query plz ask

Thanks and Regards

Hi

In Routings we have Normal Routing & Rate Routing .

Normal Routing in used for Discrete mfg & Rate Routing for Repititive mfg.

Both Normal Routing & Rate Routing's are prepared seperately for each finished product or Assembly to be manufactured.

But most of time you have some same repeated operations & Workcenters used to create routings (Normal & Rate Routings). Hence to avoid this we use some pre-defined standard Task lists. They are

1. Reference operation Set---- For Normal Routing

2. Reference Rate Routing -

For Rate Routing.

Here while creating Rate Routing you use the predefined Reference Rate Routing & Add some more information as per the Requirement.

I hope the above point is clear & Reward points.

Hi,

Rate Routing:

A routing that can be used in repetitive manufacturing for planning production quantities/volumes.

You can define the production quantity and a fixed reference point for each operation in a rate routing and thus determine the production rate.

Reference Rate Routing:

Task list type that defines a sequence of operations that is repeated regularly.

A reference rate routing is used to reduce the effort of entering data in rate routings
