Basant
Hi,
This content is taken from Sap library
The document links can be generated automatically when an order is created or released .You can also generate document links manually.
Automatic Generation from Material Master/BOM
The material master or BOM is checked during automatic generation:
All existing document links for the material are copied to the production order. These document links are assigned to the document header. You make assignments to an operation manually.
All production-relevant document items are copied from the BOM to the production order as document links. When a document item in a routing is assigned to an operation, then this assignment is also copied to the production order.
The material master or BOM is used to determine which documents are valid. In the process, the explosion date of the production order is the decisive factor, along with the configuration or parameter validity of the produced material, where applicable. Only released documents are taken into account. If several released versions exist, the version that is valid on the explosion date is used.
Manual Generation
The following options are available for manual generation:
You can create document links manually from the document links/documents saved in the material master and in the BOM (see Generating a Document Link from Master Data). In this process, the same rules apply as for automatic generation (see above).
You can create any document links when the document type is allowed for production orders (see Settings for Document Integration).
Integration
The document integration in the production order is based on the functions of the Document Management System (DMS). The documents and the original files are managed in the DMS. The document links can be managed both in the DMS and in the production order.
Document integration has the following characteristics:
Assignment to document header or to operations
Documents can be linked with the order header or with operations in the production order.
customizing for Document Management
In Customizing for Document Management (Cross-Application Components ® Document Management ® Control Data ® Define Document Types), you must configure which document types are allowed for a link to an order. The corresponding document types must be linked with object PORDER. To do this, select the document type and choose Define object link. Enter PORDER and Screen number 251.
If you do not make this setting, the documents in question are ignored during the automatic generation of the document link. When you attempt to manually create the link, the system issues an error message and refuses to create it.
Production scheduling profile
In the production scheduling profile, (Customizing for Shop Floor Control by choosing Master Data ® Define Production Scheduling Profile) you can define that when an order is created or released, document links from the material master of the produced material or document items from the BOM are copied as document links into the production order.

Hi Basant,
Normally drawing documents will be attached in material master additonal data view for the information purpose. If want any document item to be plan and for the costing purpose then use the document item category D in the BOM and attached. Otherwise from hedar data of the BOM you can use "doc assignment tab"

Hi ,
DMS is document mangement system.
Her u can create document with CVO1N and add all description of document.
Eg, there is any specific SOP or WI then u can write all thse thins into documnet .
And this document u can assign into BOM with catagery D.
DMS is useful for ISO and Design document.

Hi
Along with the answer of Mr.Nanda, please add these things
<b>In SPRO settings Prod-Basic data-Item data-Define item Categories,( T Code OS13) ,please check whether under document item row, there 's a tick mark in Document item box and a + ve sign in the last box.</b>
For creating document or drawing you have to use T code CV01N,just give the document type alone as the input, after entering give the description and below the originals dialob box, there's an icon Create original click that, give the application type and assign the file, the system will give u a document number.
<b>while you are creating a BOM for a HALB or FERT give the item category type as D and press enter and assign the document number which you want to assign and press save.</b>
I hope this will be helping you.
If useful please reward your points.
Thanks & regards

Hi Basant,
I dont have much knowledge regarding DMS-Document Management system.
<b>But some of the basic settings are goto
1.SPRO-Cross Application Components-Document management-Control data-Define number ranges for Document-Here we assign the number range interval(T code OD00) for the documents which we create in the system.
If you want to create externally(the system will not carete the number, you can create you own number)include externally(put a tick mark in this).
2.SPRO-Cross Application Components-Document management-Control data-Define document types-Here you can include the file types which you going to use,say like microsoft word, microsoft excel,...
These 2 are the basic settings which falls under control data.
Apart from these control data, general data settings can be carried out as per your need.
Kindly go through SAP help for this,or else you can post the same thread in PLM(Product Life cycle management) forum list.
Surely you can get a better help.</b>
If useful reward your suitable points and please close the thread as answered.
Thanks & Regards'
Karthik.
