For the above Error. I have found the solution below:

“Please try to logon with DDIC user in client 000 of E02 system on host 'sapdev30' instance 00 ? Is the logon ok?

If so, you may stop the SAPup program and then inform the password of DDIC once again to sapup with the command 'SAPup set DDICpwd'

Afterwards, repeat the phase.”

Can anyone explain How to implement above Solution.

Yes, what Markus Dohr has mentioned is true. During the PREPARE phase, you will be prompted to create another instance. Normally, the system number for this instance will be 'system number of your current instance 01'. In your case, it would be '0001' which, is '01" unless you had specified something different than default during the PREPARE phase. Now, this instance is called 'Shadow Instance'. During the upgrade, in order not to disturb your current productive system, all the activities like object conversion, dictionary modifications, etc would be done on your shadow instance. At some point, your current instance '00' will be replaced by your shadow instance.

Now, this is the instance to which SAP wants connection to. To open connection to this 'shadow instance', please follow the following steps. I would assume your Host Name as 'IRVING', SID as 'BCP' and you shadow instance number as '01' ( please make sure if you have the same number) and use the above details as example below.

Logon to "http://service.sap.com/serviceconnection" --> select the button "Maintain Connections" --> Select your system (BCP) from the list or search for your system (BCP) --> Once you find your system, select you system which, will take you to the next screen --> select the button 'System Data' --> You will get another window to maintain 'system data'. In this browser window, you will see 6 tabs 'System', 'software components', 'DB Server', 'Appl. Server', 'Other Server' and 'License Keys'.

Now, for SAP to login to your 'Shadow Instance', you will have to maintain the details of shadow instance in the above tabs. In specific, you will have to make sure you have the 'SAP-Router' section defined under 'System' tab and the instance number of the shadow instance defined under the 'Server Data' section under the 'DB Server' tab.

Once this is completed, in your OSS message to SAP, you will have to provide the user name and password for the shadow instance which, is most probably the copy of the user 'DDIC'.

This will allow SAP to login to your shadow instance.

Hope this helps.

I have added the "Shadow Instance" As requested by SAP

when i am trying to check the connections it is prompting "Partner not reached"

My shadow Instance Number is"77"

In MMC which shows shadow instance's"Dispatcher" is down.

Is it possible for SAP to loginto shadow instance. Inspite of shadow instance is down.

Mag,

I suggest to cleanly shutdown the instance and start it again

cd usrsapputbin
SAPup stopshd
SAPup startshd

Then create a new entry in a SAPGUI where you put the shadow instance number in "Systemnumber" - if you can see the logon screen you should be done and SAP should be able to connect.

HI,

I have stoped the shadow instance when i try to start the shadow instance it says:

<b>" At this time start the shadow instance is not possible:

Since you are before phase START_SHDI_FIRST !!!!"</b>

So you're at the same state as you were initially as you were opening the thread here? Or did you reset and start again?

HI,

I am unable to move further, I have restarted the server and started the shadow instance but could not restart it.

I have followed the instructions as you have said.

Any other options.

Kindly help me.

I'm a bit confused now...

Is your shadow instance running or not?

HI,

Shadow instance is Down. i cannot start it through "SAPup startshd"

I have to start it manually.

Although if i start it manually only message server is up and The Dispatcher is down.

Mag.

I'd suggest to restart the upgrade an see if the error persists or which error you get. Since you rebooted the box, the system may have a different environment now...

Check dev_disp and dev_w0 of your SHADOW instance - maybe we get an idea why the instance is not coming up...

Is your database up and running? You're on SQL Server 2005, right? If yes, check

Note 734034 - Native OLEDB provider SQLNCLI

Markus / Magham,

I strongly feel the same too. It is some problem to deal with the database. The 'db_connect' seems to fail. Please check the status of the database and see if you can catch hold of any clue from the database logs.

Thank you.

HI ,

I have opened connections to SAP for BI-Upgrade.

and the the responce from them was:

<b>"Can you setup a remote connection to your shadow instance as there is

not enough information in your system.

BATCHJOB RSUPGCUAGEN111 is scheduled but is not released in your system

and the cause of this may be available in Shadow instance".</b>

How can i set up remote connection to my shadow instance?

Can you let me know what SAP is refering about?

What should i respond?

Regards,

Mag.

You entered a new system number during PREPARE for the shadow instance and to this shadow instance SAP wants to connect.

You need to add that system number to your OSS data in http://service.sap.com/systemdata and configure your saprouter accordingly so SAP can access the system on the new number.
