Fiscal year variant change in a live system

Hi,

Our company was recently sold and now we pretend to change fiscal year variant from standard K4 (in which fiscal year is the calendar year with 4 special posting periods) to a new one different from the calendar year (with the same number of

posting periods but beginning at 01 st July and ends at 30 th June).

This new variant will be used in Controlling Area and Assets

Accounting, too.

Has this change risks even considering:

1 - That is not a shortened fiscal year variant.

2 - That the change will take place after closing the period.

Is this change viable in a live system?

Thank you for your help

Best regards

Rita Vieira

    Hello

Fiscal year variant change is not recommended by SAP.

This may lead to huge inconsistency in data, although you use same variant in controlling and in assets.

There could be master data which are year dependant.

There could be errors in depreciation and period end net book values.

There could be a legal impact too.

Please check with SAP if they have a recommendation.

    Regards

    hi ana rita,

this is not recommended by SAP. you can use other fiscal year variant that should deviate from the posting periods (u can use different fiscal year variant which is having same posting period and fiscal year). otherwise u can go for the shortened fiscal year to complete the remaing month and u can start with new fiscal year variant.

if this is helpful the assign points
