What happens to user-defined fields during SAP Business One Upgrades?

Dear all,

I trust you are all well.

I have done a couple of SAP Business One full life-cycle implementations before but not an upgrade from a previous version to a current version, and I would like to ask a few questions in respect of our impending upgrade.

My company currently use SAP Business One 8.82 and we would like to upgrade to v9.2 in a couple of months time, but we use both Maringo and Boyum as add-ons and we intend not to use these add-ons anymore going forward as v9.2 already provides some standard functionality for which we use both Boyum and Maringo, so, I wanted to ask:

1. What will happen to the user-defined fields and tabs we have created using the two add-ons as we intend not to use them again?

2. Can those user-defined fields be migrated automatically to v9.2?

3. What should we do (before, during, and after) to manage the situation in the event that we cannot migrate those user-defined fields to v9.2?

Your answers will be very helpful

Thank you all in advance

Hi Armstrong,

I never worked with Boyum or Maringo, but the user fields, user tables and user defined objects created by add-ons will exists normally on your new version of SAP Business One, probably if you choose to continue using this add-ons , you need to update the add-ons.

If you intend to remove this kind of data, maybe you should try contact the vendors of this products to see if they have some functionality to clean this customs.

Hope it helps.

Kind Regards,

Hi,

1. Not sure, whether the data from UDF( created by add-ons) will be upgraded without using add-on. Before upgrading live databases, you can simulate it in another similar environment

2. UDF will be upgraded to new version if the UDF created by using SAP B1.

3. Extract the data from those UDF created by add-on and import into SAP by creating new UDF. So that, no data loss during migration.
