No local engine could be found

I have installed the SAP system from the NetWeaver Composite Environment sneak preview and according to the sapmmc everything has started successfully. However, when I start the NWDS and try to select a local J2EE host it tells me that no local engine could be found.

Reason: No system could be found under
..........\sapmnt

Any ideas?

Hi,

1.You have to login to index page.

type http://hostname:httpport on the internet explorer.

2.when u get the Index page, click on system information.

You will have to give

user :administrator

password: administrator password(given at the time of installation)

3.At the top left corner, you will find message server port.

You have to enter this to connect through NWDS.

Sorry Stuart, I was having some problem in the network, so could not reply to your question. Anyway, I would just like to add a couple of points to Usha's reply:

1. You can use the ip address instead of the hostname

2. Instead of administrator, you can use your own user id too (if Administrator Role is assigned to your user id)

Hope this helps.

I can see the system information now and I have noted the message server and port and entered that as my remote J2EE engine, but I still cannot deploy.

The J2EE engine is displayed in the view. The view shows:

Remote engine

sunnydal-f107ef:3600 (grey)

CE1 instance 01 on loopback (green)

icm (green)

server0 (green)

Monitor loopback

When I try to deploy and run the NWDS tells me that the J2EE engine and port are not configured correctly.

i wonder if I have installed the J2EE engine correctly. Is there any way to tell?

After starting NWDS, follow the menu path:

Window -> Preferences -> SAP AS Java. On the right hand side, select the 1st radio button (should be selected by default). Put the correct message server port (can be found out from the system information page of your local server) and click on the "OK" button.

Then, follow the menu path Window -> Show View -> Other -> Server -> SAP AS Java Cluster Overview. This will show you the status of your J2EE engine at the bottom. If they are up and running, then you will see them "green" under "Remote Engine".

Hope this helps.

Hi,

1.Have you given the <b>correct host name</b> to connect to NWDS.Please verify the host name.

2.check,by mistake if you have given <b>http port instead of message server port.

To check message server port :</b>go to index page ......http://hostname:http port

then click on system information ,give administrator credentials.

at the top left ,you can find message server port.

Give these details to connect on NWDS to engine.

it should work.............
