Default SAP ByD Shopping Cart Item Type to Service

I am hoping that there is a way to default the Item Type in Shopping Cart to Service as we do not use Materials and we constantly have to remind users to change the type when they have no products appear. If we can do this, we could also hide the field from the Shopping Cart view. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
