Why would a user not show up in the CMC User List after an Authentication Update?

I've recently added a user to one of the AD groups that has access to Business Objects. After several updates of the Authentication in the CMC, the user still does not show up in the list of users, so they are unable to log in. I have added other users to this same AD group and they show up in the users list after doing an update. It is just this one user that I can't get to replicate over. Any ideas?

We are using Windows AD authentication, BO 4.3 SP3

There is a known issue on 4.2 SP3 (assuming 4.3 is a typo) see KBA 2388068

if it's not the issue in the referenced note then there is a guided answer link you can use to troubleshoot further
