Processing...Please wait (Indicator some .gif file)

Hi,

While system is processing in the background (like getting some info from XI), we need to indicate the user that system is in progress and he can wait before doing some actions on the page.....we need to display some .gif like a timer or something.

How we can achieve this? Please explain.
