Dear all,

I am trying to install the SAP MiniWAS system on a OPEN SUSE Linux 10.2. I am using SAP System ID: WAS; Operating System: Linux; SAP Release: 6.10; Database: SAP DB which is the free development environment.

When I try to initiate/ install the database the system is stops with the following error message:

---

ERR

-24994,ERR_RTE: runtime environment error

1,Kernel died before reaching COLD state

      • Wed Jun 13 01:14:22 2007

util_connect CONTROL,CONTROL

---

Right now I am not sure what that could mean therefore i would like to ask whether somebody from your site can help me.

Thank you very much and kind regards,

Bernd Mueller.

Hello Bernd

Why don't you give the more recent versions a try, we have a NW04 version in 32bit and a NW 7.0 version 64bit for MaxDB and 32bit DB2 (upcoming in the next few days) available.

You find them under www.sap.com/shop Knowledge Shop General > SAP NetWeaver > SAP Web Application Server SAP NW2004s Testdrive MaxDB (DL9).

Or try General > SAP NetWeaver > SAP NetWeaver for the NW04 versions.

I am also looking for a victim trying out the following:

VMware is a little bit unclear about this but VMware KB seems to suggest that it is possible to run 64bit OS clients on a VMware workstation or player running in a 32bit OS host as long as the CPU is x86_64. If this works, you can even give the 64bit NW7.0 version a try on a 64bit PC or laptop. As long as you have sufficient memory (don't try below 2 GB RAM) and harddisk space (20GB).

What do you see in knldiag.err?

I think, this is due to the fact, that your distribution is too "new" for this old SAP software.

Hi,

are there any alternatives for this "old" software based on Debian or what I am actually using Ubuntu?

And another question (it is my first sap installation at all) where is knldiag.err located? I am right now not at my machine where I am trying to install the system.

Thanks a lot,

Bernd

Check here in the download section, there's a "Netweaver Evaluation" which should run nicely on OpenSuse 10.2.

I don't know where MiniWAS does install it's database, usually it's under

/sapdb/data/wrk/<SID>
