Does UME support LDAP aliases?

Hi experts,

we use an LDAP server (flat tree) as UME data source. Portal users and portal user groups are stored in the LDAP. Everyhing works fine. Now, we have been asked to include further LDAP groups which are not placed in the same tree as the LDAP groups we use for the SAP NetWeaver Portal.

We though of LDAP aliases which might solve our problem. Therefore, we created a alias object in the LDAP tree where we store our portal groups. The alias object refers to a LDAP group outside the tree where we store the portal groups. But the first try failed. Searching in the portal for the new group failed.

Please share your experience if you have already used LDAP aliases in connection with UME. Is it possible at all? We are on SAP NetWeaver Portal 7.0 SPS11 and use Novell eDirectory 8737.

Alternative options how to solve our problem are also welcome.

Best regards,

Martin
