Transport, please help

Hi, I'm new to basis and I want to import a request from another system to my system (nw2004, oracle, windows).

I've already imported all the support packages and applied some add ons succesfully (my transport system is working), but I don't know how to do a import.

I've copied the data and cofiles of the request into the corresponding folders in the 'trans' path and I want to do the 'import' now. How to do that?

I don't know if my transport route is properly configured, it is in the default configuration. I have just one system for test purpose, there isn't a system landscape like development/quality/produtcion.

Points for all userfull answers.

Thanks in advance,

Paulo

Hi,

Log on to test system

Goto Transaction stms_import

menu bar --> extras --> other requests --> Add

Enter transport request number ... and client

While importing request you can assign the client.

Hi Ben.

What does "import queue" mean? Transport domain?

Do I have to change the settings for the transport route?

The only imports I will do is from external systens and between clients.

Tks,

Paulo

Hi

So you are saying that you are going to import funtionaltiy (transports) from other systems which are not in the same transport domain?

(the transport domain are systems who share the same /usr/sap/trans directory)

If that is the case then you'll have to copy the corresponding cofiles and datafiles (contained in the /usr/sap/trans directory) from the source machine to the target.

and then you'' be able to add them to the import queue (transaction STMS - F5; and then double click on the queue) by go tho: extras - other requests - add)

if the transport is in the import queue; then click once on the request; and then click (CLTL-F11)

feel free to ask if it isn't clear.

Hi Norden, thanks for the explanation.

I've already import a request from another system (as explained above).

The only doubts is:

- do I have to change the transport routes to do imports between clients?

- how to do transports between clients (transaction, steps, etc)

Thanks & regards,

Hi

For doing client transport you dont have to change any routes. You can do this by using Txn SCC1. Select the source client and give the Transport # and import

Hi paulo,

I think your question is regarding applying support packs on ABAB based system and I also assume you have already downloaded all the required files.

Copy all the .SAR files to /usr/sap/trans and uncar it . It will automatically extracted to ../EPS/in directory. Now login to client 000 and call transaction SPAM --> Support packs --> Load from Application server then Select Display/Define --> select que and apply SPs . For Addon use transaction SAINT .

Also make sure to upgrade your kernel and update SPAM/SAINT before starting Support packs.

Thanks

Hi Prince.

As I told I've already upgraded my spam, imported all support packages and upgraded the kernel (all the tasks).

Now I just want to import a request I brought from other system.

Sorry I misunderstood your question. You can follow Ben's step for importing a transport
