Unable to log into Web DBM after installation of NW 2004s SP9

Hello,

I have NW 2004s SP9 installed on my laptop, and I use my local engine to deploy and test my code. This means I need to start my engine using the SAP Management Console every day. My database obviously has to be online in order to do this, the problem is, it never is and when I click on the database node in the MMC, it prompts me to log in, with the following error:

24950 ERR_USRFAIL: User authorization failed

I put in the administrator password and everything works fine, it's just annoying that I have to start my database every day and type in this password EVERY time I click on the database node (even if I've already logged in previously that day). My coworker has the same version of NetWeaver installed and does not have this issue, but other coworkers DO have the same problem as me. My guess is that something went wrong in our install as compared to the one person's who does work.

But, I'm not sure what to do to fix it. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Jennifer

Hi Jennifer,

Check if you have Automatic Startup type set for services of your DB. You can go to Services by doing the right click on My Computer, selecting Manage and once Management dialog is opened, go to Services Applications => Services.

Thanks Mike,

After I posted that message yesterday, I had the same thought, so I went and checked and they were NOT set to automatic so I changed that. I still have to log in to the database every time I click on that node, but at least I don't need to start it once I do.

I'd still like to know if there's a way to fix the authentication so I don't have to log into it manually.

Hi,

Go to services.msc through command prompt and then look for DB related services.May be it will start with "SAPDB"naming.

Set the start up mode to "AUTOMATIC" if it is in "MANUAL " now. Then may it will work, i feel.

reward points if helpful.......
