How to handle this Release Strategy

Hi,

I am working on PR Workflow. There is a scenario in which the approver uses a release code to reject the PR release instead of rejection icon. So it means that the approver will recieve a work item, on execution will goto ME54N where he will have two options one with release code A1 and other with R1. If he releases the one with A1 then it is released. If he releases the R1 then it is rejected.

My problem when the approver rejects the PR using release code R1 the workitem still remains in his inbox.I want to complete this work item and follow the Rejection path.Kindly suggest how to handle this

The Release Statuses in SPRO are maintained like this

A1 A2 R1 Release indicator

X X Blocked

X X R Rejected

X X 2 RFQ/purchase order

X X X 2 RFQ/purchase order

Kindly suggest how to handle this

Are you sure it is the same work item that is still in the inbox? Sounds very strange as task TS00007986 has 4 terminating events defined (assuming you use workflow template WS00000038). But then again, you haven't said if you are creating your own workflow or not, so that's just a wild guess on my part.

Hi Kjetil,

Thanks for ur reply. I have copied the workflow template WS00000038 and modified accordingly. As I said before if it is rejected using Release code R1 no terminating event is triggered.

I have found one solution but i don't how effective it will be.When the rejection is done using release code R1 the release indicator is set to R from X. I have put this condition to complete this work item and proceed further, but the thing is i have to schedule the report RSWWCOND for doing this and the frequency of this should be 10 min. I don't know whether it will be load on the Server. Kindly suggest.

As Prabhakar pointed out, you are not rejecting, you are releasing. That is why I don't understand why there is no event created. The ordinary "Released" event should occur. Have you verified using the event log (transaction SWEL, with SWELS first to turn logging on if necessary) that no events are created when you select release code R1?

So in your case Requistion is never rejected, if one selects R1 release code and release it , that means it s rejected if A1 or A2 that means it is approved.

Guess standard worklow will not work in this case.

Thanks,

Hi,

These is no seperate Release code for Rejection.

Please Just check and test it again.

We have seperate Button left side for Rejection in that ME54N.

Thanks and Regards,
