Portal Masthead modification

Hi experts,

I am required to customize the portal masthead.

Instead of customizing the SAP delivered masthead, i choose to created a new masthead from scratch(a new webdynpro IView) and place it in a new framework page.

Are there any disadvantages to this approach?? Would I be better off customizing the SAP delivered masthead??

Vineeth, the way you choosed is correct and recommended, becuase otherweise (in case of changing standard SAP content) you have to apply and test your changes after every upgrade of portal. I don`t see any disadvantages of creating custom masthead in your own namespace.

Thanks a lot. I had''nt thought about the upgrades at all. Now is clear that a custom masthead will be the best approach.

Vineeth,

Instead of creating the masthead from the scratch, it is easier to create your own custom PAR from the SAP Masthead PAR and just change the JSP content.

That way you would n't loose the basic functionality of logoff and etc.

Hi Pankaj,

The blog is exactly what I was looking for... However, I am in the process of modifying the jsp file and find myself dealing with HTMLB. I am not able to find details about the HTMLB tag library. Can you please point me the right direction.
