CRM business packages to NW04S Portals or NWDI ?

Hi,

We have installed NW04S on two different servers, Portals on one server and NWDI alone on anathor server. Now if we want to deploy the CRM business packes where should they be deployed Portal or NWDI server ? The developer say he is doing the development on the NWDI server and he cannot see the software components on NWDI server.

Where will the CRM packeages be deployed Portals or NWDI? Any help is appreciated.

Raja

    Hi,

    NWDI is only development infrastructure.

You have to deploy the CRM business packages in the portal.

    Hi Ben,

Thank you for the reply. In this case will the deleveloper be able to do the CRM development work on NWDI as there are no CRM .sca files deployed there. If we do the CRM deployment on the Portals how will they be able to do the CRM development on NWDI server? what would be the configuration that we have to make on NWDI server? Please advice.

    Thanks & regards

    Raja

      Raja, Micheal,

Hopefully you got an answer for your question. The CRM business packages are deployed on the portal. In order for the developer to customize the business packages, they need to be available in NWDI. YOu create a track in NWDI and import the components. You configure the run time systems for the track. The developer should be see the track and it's components.

      -Thanks

    Hi Raja,

First of All there are two varients for Business packages for CRM.

    1. Older PCUI Supporting package for crm5.0

    2. New Java Webdynpro Enabled Package for CRM07

Both the packages need to be installed on the portal server.

These will provide ready made content and roles and i think no further Development should be required. Any Customization that needs to be done can be done on the portal server itself.

If some additional Client Specific requirement is there then NWDI comes into picture, where the developer created the IView in Webdynpro and attaches it to the Roles already provided by the CRM Business package you are already using.

    These are two different approaches.

    Hope this helps...
