Hi Gurus,

I want to clarify that only for Third party Item Category BANS the Purchase Requisition is triggered and can a purchase order be triggered for a Make to Order or any other item Category.

Sarosh

Dear Sarosh,

yes, you can see the link to the production order from the sales order. If you go to the transaction VA02 or VA03, mark the item and go to the schedule line screen. Here you see under the schedule lines the following buttons:

Sales Shipping Procurement

In the case of assembly order you can see 4 buttons:

Sales Shipping Procurement Production Order

In the case of third-party order you see other 4 buttons:

Sales Shipping Procurement Purchase Requisition

So, it is impossible to have purchase requisition button and production order button simultaneously. Also in coding, these processes (both located in the include FV45EFMA) are completely separated, also in VBAP and VBEP the different fields are filled.

To be sure that you have an assembly order, you can go to the schedule line screen, call debugger and check the field T459K-MNTGA. If the field contains '1' or '2' then you have static assembly, if the field contains '3' or '4' then you have a dynamic assembly, if the field is empty, then you have no assembly process (in the terminology "Make-To-Order" and "Assembly Order" are the same).

So, on the schedule line screen you can see the linked productioon order.

I hope, this info helps you further.

Dear Ravi,

thirs-party order means that you have no goods in the stock and will procure the goods externally (external procurement); here the purchase requisition and later a purchase order will be created;

make-to-order means that you have no goods in the stock but you can produce the goods internally by yourself (internal procurement); here the production order will be created.

You cannot have a schedule line (or generally an item) which produces simultaneously production order and purchase requisition. You have either internal or external procurement.

So, the answer is NO: you cannot have third-party order process and make-to-order process simultaneously in one item. Moreover, as purchase requisition is a MM-document, it cannot trigger the creation of a make-to-order. It can trigger only a creation of a purchase order. Of you would like to create the purchase order automatically, you can use the item category like ALES. But the creation of a make-to-order is not possible from the purchase requisition in the third-party process.

I hope, this info helps you a little bit further.

Dear Ram,

If you use MTO order and have no production facility then you can buy the goods by vendor. But it is not a third-party process.

There are two kind of processes:

direct procurement:

- external procurement (third-party process)

- internal procurement (assembly order)

indirect procurement:

- you create only requirements from the sales order, and then MRP run creates the production order or purchase requisition.

MTO or Third-party is the case of direct procurement; it menas that the follow-up document (production order or purchase requisition) are created during savin the order and are linked to a sales order schedule line 1:1.

You cannot link to one schedule line production order and purchase requisition simultaneously. If you have not sufficient facility for the own production completely, you have to use the indirect procurement: requirements + MRP run.

I hope, this info explains the difference in terminology for you.

Hi ,

In third party item Category the Purchase requisition number gets triggered automatically in the sales order and we are able to get the number in Item Schedule lines Procurement tab.

Will I be able to configure in such a way that PR will be triggered automatically for MAKE TO ORDER.

Sarosh.
