Hi,
what are the advantages of SLD and multiple SLD?.
comments are welcome
regards,
Barath
Barath,
SLD is where all your products, Software components, technical systems and business sytems for dev, qa and prod are created. First you have to create product attach it to software component and assign technical system to the SWC and business system to this technical system. Then import this SWC into IR. Check this weblog and docuemnt on this:
/people/naveen.kumarh/blog/2007/02/28/discovering-sld-part-1
/people/sandro.garofano2/blog/2006/12/08/sld-transport-target-creator
/people/srinivas.vanamala2/blog/2007/02/05/step-by-step-guide-xml-file-2-xml-file-scenario-part-i
This all depends upon your clients requirements. To have multiple SLDs is not recommended because to maintain them will become hard. So in general you will one SLD for both DEV and QA and one SLD for PROD.

Hi,
SLD (system Landscape Directory) is a central repository of information about systems and software in the data center.
so talking about the working of an SLD, here if any information is required for the integration server regarding the systems(logical or physical) and the software (installed products) it refers to the SLD. To tell you about the other features it has....it captures the dimensions of the system landscape like solution dimension, transport dimension and technical dimension. we assign a technical system to a business system to help the SLD make the appropriate association. The software products used by the business system are got from the technical system definition.
This might help you
