MD04 Batch Status as a MRP-element

Hallo everybody,

is it possible to use the batch as a MRP-element in MD04?

We think about using SAP-QM with batch status instead of inspection stock because of logistic restrictions (goods movement).

thank you for your answer,

Florian

Hi,

I would strognly suggest that you reconsider using QM if it is just to restrict the goods movements?

What and how do you want to restrict?

Do you just want to be able to make a part of a batch blocked for movements or a whole batch?

Or is there something else that you want to do?

QM has some very useful functions but you should only consider using QM if you genuinely have very detailed and very controlled quality inspection procedures.

Perhaps we can find you another solution?

HI Steve,

thanks for your answer,

we do not use QM to restrict goods movement. We have the problem that goods movements are not possible if we use QM-module with inspection stock (then you have to use special QM transactions).

But then you can not make goods movements (MIGO, etc.) with only a part of the inspection stock. But we need this for logistical reasons (goods must leave the ramp as soon as possible) und we use an external storage system.

Do you know the reason, why SAP'ss QM concept does not allowed to book a inspection lot in different storage locations and in partial volumens in inspection stock?

(compare Key of table QALS).

Do you have any idea for a different solution (not using batch status)??

Thanks a lot,

Florian

Hi,

I do't know QM in detail, but I suspect that your problem is not caused by QM.

You appear to be using batches and clocking them by using batch functions to restrict the batch. This blocks the whole batch because you are basically indicating that there is a problem with the batch and so the system is acting correctly by blocking the whole batch. So don't use restricted stock.

have you considered using a new storage location that you can move the stock to that you want to restrict and flag it at the same time as QI stock (not QM, simply the QI flag).

As per my knowledge this function is not availabe..might be you can try with user exit available for MD04 transaction.
