Dear friends,
In our company we have maintained 4 business areas from 2005 onwards. Now we have taken a decision of merge the two business areas for operations and reporting purpose.
Can you tell me the procedure to be followed for merging the Business areas.

You can set up the 2 new one's for reporting from now on.
Merging existing business area's is in my opinion not possible...
You can also not delete the existing business area's, so it migh be the best idea to keep only 2 of the existing ones.

Hi,
It is not possible to transfer from an existing Business Area to a new / another Business Area. Solution is to create a new Business for future use. Historical data will remain in old Business Areas.
Hence, while designing the Organization structure extreme care needs to be taken keeping in view the present and future business needs of an organization.

whether the merger of business area is possible through the consolidation of business area? If so, is it possible to do the consolidation of business area after two years of golive?
Because we have to prepare the financial statement and dialy monitering on the new business area i.e. merger of the two business area.

Hi,
I have seen this issue in company where we were asked to stop transactions in one business are. Actually there will be some opening transactions/continuing transaction in those business area may be in MM or SD or even FI.
First you have to change all open items(like PO created but no posting has been made) to change to the alternative business area, all open items of FI has to be transfered to the correct(or alternative) business area..
Even after doing this, you will find that you can not block the businessarea as some transaction are there which you can not transfer.
Put a validation with warning message-- do not use this business are for fress transaction. After some time when you feel that the open items have come to zero or to very small number.. change that warning message to Error Message.
That's what we have done and worked fine.. with very small issues.

Through which trx. code
we can transfer all open items (like the Open PO created but no posting has been made) to change to the alternative business area, similarly for open SO's.
All open items of FI has to be transfered to the correct(or alternative) business area..
All open Customer / Vendor Balances and asset balance
Can you provide the procedure for this.
