CBTA best practice???

Former Member

In Solman 7.1 SAP said that best practice was to create and maintain scripts in Solman DEV and then transport to Solman Prod for execution.

Now I run across SAP Note 2447181 that says best practice is NOT running CBTA scripts in Solman Prod.

2447181 - Unable to download CBTA scripts without opening client in SCC4

Resolution

"The best practice is not to run CBTA from a Productive SAP Solution Manager system"

"One possibility for those that want to run the scripts from the Productive SAP Solution Manager system can create/copy a client that will be a non-productive client, which can be opened in SCC4 for changes and allowing eCATT & CATT."

This note just makes no sense to me.If you run CBTA in Solman Dev then how are you supposed to integrate with ChaRM and ITSM that are productive in Solman Prod? How do you use SEA or CBTA if UPL data isn't available?

Can someone make sense of this note?!!!!!

there's the branch concept, introduced with 7.2.

it probably solves your questions. See the official solotution manager 7.2 wiki.
