SAPGUI 710 Bex Issue

Former Member

I have recently deployed SAPGUI 710 to a pilot group. Thus far all tested functions work properly in R/3 and GTS. However, when opening BW reports in Excel from the GUI Excel opens, but does not display any data or anything for that matter. When I close Excel the GUI says "Please install Excel as viewer." All other BW functions work properly with the exception of reports in Excel.

I've looked at notes that contain that error message but unfortunately they do not resolve the problem. When I launch BEX by loading Start>All Programs>SAP Business Explorer>Business Explorer (SAP BW 3.x)>Analyzer (SAP BW 3.x) it can successfully load the reports into Excel.

I have created the SAPGUI 710 installation package by using the SAP Installation Server contained in the 710 installation media. For possible resolution I have included all components of SAPGUI including Business Explorer in the pilot installation.

All of my pilot computers are Windows XP Pro SP2, IE6, dotNET framework 1.1 & 2.0, Office 2003 Professional SP2 (with all latest MS patches), SAP GUI 710 patch 2. (problem persisted in nopatch, patch1, and patch2).

I have opened a ticket with SAP, but confidence is low.

I wont forgot to award points. TIA

I was able to find the reason why I had this trouble. This being that I installed both the BEX 7.x and BEX 350. I recreated the GUI installation package only using the BEX 350 components and it works properly now.

Hi,

I didn't have any issue yet, but I don't have the same mix of software (already having MIE 7).

Opening a ticket is indeed the best you can do.
