Migrating WD DCs to a different server

Hi All,

We have created few web dynpro DCs, now we would like to move them to a different server..

All these DCs are active DCs in the current server, they are not local web dynpro projects.

What is the best way of doing this? Can we avoid the Copy/Paste package structure way of migrating DCs.

Please help.

Regards

Sandip

Hi,

Can you be clear about "moving" them to a different server? Do you mean to say all these DCs need to be moved to another NWDI setup?

When you assemble your software component, it results in a .sca file. You can check-in this .sca in a new track on a different server.

Does that help?

Thanks,

HI Srinivas,

Ya I need to move all the DCs to another NWDI setup.

How to assemble these DCs to a SCA and subsequent check in to a different NWDI.

Thanks

Release all the activites of all DCs from Developer Studio and they will be available to be imported into Consolidation (in CMS ->Transport Studio). Once imported into the consolidation system in Transport Studio, you can assemble the SCA in the Assembly tab. Once assembled, look for the SCA in /usr.../JTrans directory (if im not wrong) on the server.

Paste this SCA into /usr.../JTrans/Inbox of the other NWDI server. Create a track, software component etc. (SC should be of the same name). Then in that track's tabs in Transport Studio, goto Check-in tab and check-in your SCA. This should import all the sources into the new track.

Disclaimer: Please donot hold me responsbile if something goes wrong. I suggest taking backup of NWDI before you do anything with it. Before you follow my steps, please be thorough with CMS, Transport Studio etc and do it at your own risk
