Hi Vijay,

MD02 and MD01 is online MRP and MDBT is background MRP.

MDBT and MD01 at plant level run and MD02/MD03 is online at material level.

Background MRP means you can execute the planning for all parts within plant which are relevent for MRP (MRP types should be PD or similar) in background (not visible)..you can see only status from MDBT.

Once this is finish then the results will be availabe in MD05 and MD04 transaction.

You can also schedule the MRP in background from SM36 transcation with cretaing variant for program RMMRP000 from SE38 transaction and schedule this as per your client requirement.

If helps rewards your points.

Hi

You can run MRP either online or Background

MD01 - online for the total plant

MD02- online for material wise

Online planning

The system carries out total planning for the plant selected or for the scope of planning you have defined. The individual plants or MRP areas are planned in the sequence defined.

When you have completed the planning run you receive statistics with information on the scope of planning, exceptional situations and terminations. You can also see how much time is required for the planning run in total and for planning the individual materials.

To limit the scope of these statistics you can set the number of materials used, in Customizing for MRP under Activate runtime statistics.

Background planning

Tcode MDBT

If you carry out the total planning in the background, you can print these statistics.

If you have selected the field Display material list in the initial screen of the planning run, the list of the materials planned is displayed above the statistics. If you position the cursor on a specific material in the list and choose MRP list or Stock/ requirements list, this takes you directly to the appropriate list and from there you can test the planning result.

Starting from the Material Requirements Planning node, choose Planning ® Total planning ® As background job.

The Total planning: Variants screen appears.

Choose Create variant.

The variant contains the control parameters for the total planning run.

Enter a name for the variant and choose Create.

The system displays the Variants: change screen assignment dialog box. The system recommends the BATCH structure for MRP run screen.

Choose Continue.

The recommendation is copied and this takes you to the initial screen for the total planning run.

Enter the control parameters that the system is to use during the total planning run (see Control Parameters for the Planning Run) and, if you work with scope of planning, select the Parallel processing field.

Choose Attributes.

The ABAP: Save Attributes of Variant XXX: screen appears.

Enter a description for the variant in the Description field and choose .

This takes you to the initial screen for the total planning run again.

Choose Variants ® Exit.

The Total planning: Variants screen appears again.

Position the cursor on the variant and choose Schedule job.

The Total Planning Scheduling: Start Time screen appears.

You define whether the variant created is to be scheduled just once or periodically.

Result

If you choose Schedule once, the planning run is carried out once on the date that you have specified and with the control parameters that you defined in the variant.

If you choose Schedule periodically, the total planning run is repeated at regular intervals.

If you run the total planning run in background mode, you can print out the protocol and the resulting statistics.

Hope you are clear

If so, Pls reward your points

regards

Vijay

You can run MRP in Background as a background job using the transaction MDBT. In MDBT you have to create a variant and then schedule this variant to run as per your requirement.

MD01 is used to run for a whole plant or for MRP area, and MD02 is used to run for a single item and at multi level which means for a single item MRP will be run till the lowest level as per the plan.

MD01 and MD02 are online planning; MDBT is background Plan.

Please revert back if you need further information.

Hope this helps you.
