BO 3.1 Cluster Install Details

Hello,

My question is regarding BO 3.1 Cluster install and below are my system details.

1. I have Cluster environment ( 1 to 😎

2. 1 & 2 are Web application and 3 & 4 are intelligence servers (SIA) and 5 to 8 (SIA) are Process tier servers.

3. Here,I am maintaining Central Management process server in 3 & 4 and all other remaining intelligence process servers in 3 & 4 BO CMS

4. In 5 to 8 servers, Maintaining only Process Tier servers and Central management process server has been deleted and all other intelligence tier process servers has been deleted.

As per BO 3.1 Achitecture, below are the details.

1. The Client Tier

2. The Application Tier

3. The Intelligence Tier

4. The Processing Tier

5. The Data Tier

My Question is:

1st question: Related to 4th Point: Deleting the CMS process server from Processing tier environment is the best approach? and I see process servers in 5 to 8 servers are going down in regular intervals and seeing red text in process servers. I feel due to CMS has been deleted from all Process tier servers in 5 to 8 servers even though CMS process server available in 3 & 4 servers (Cluster).

2nd question: I do not see CMS under the Local CMS server (SIA -> Properties ->startup -> Local CMS), is that because of CMS deleted from 5 to 8 servers?

3rd question: i see only 3 & 4 servers under the cluster nodes as CMS process server available in 3 & 4. i do not see 5 to 8 servers in Cluster nodes. (SIA -> Properties->Startup -> Cluster Nodes)

Please, let me know is it best approach to delete the CMS from any of the nodes which we treat as SIA server.

Thanks,

Srikanth

1. Number of CMS servers you need depends on the environment you have. If you have more than 600-700 concurrent active users, you need more than 1 CMS server.
Deleting CMS servers from processing tier is common approach.

Server processes that do not start or crash have nothing to do with you deleting CMS server from those machines - you need to investigate why those servers have issues.

2. You won't see local CMS servers on machines from which you deleted them.

3. Yes, that page in CMC shows only CMS nodes.

Please review pattern books

they will help explain some of the concepts.
