[001]Deployment aborted

Deployment exception : Cannot determine sdm host (is empty). Please configure your engine/sdm correctly !"

any idea wat the issue...another colleague has given the same host and port number and its working fine for him but not for me...

Hi Robin,

Check in J2EE engine Tab whether the server is in Green or not. If it is not Green,

firts make sure that the J2EE engine is running by logging in to server system.

Then check the Server name or IP address in NWDS by gng to Window -> Preference ->SAP J2EE Engine . If it is correct, then it is the problem with the Message Server Port u mentioned there. So check the messageServer Port number by logging in to http://<Server name or IP address>:<Port>/sap/monitoring/SystemInfo.

To get this info, u must have J2ee_admin password.

There u can see the Message Server Port number. For me it is 3900.

Enter this Port Number in SAP J2EE Engine in NWDS.

Hi Robin

I think u are not giving appropriate message server port for ur J2ee engine just open ur SAPMMC for ur WAS and select process_list in the left pane then in the Right pane select message_server right click and select developer trace in that look up for the following line

                  • I Listen to Message server port 3601 ( 3601 ) *********

so see the message server port for ue WAS and then come back to ur NWDS go to windows>preferences>sap j2ee engine

in Message server Host : (type ip address of j2ee engine / localhost if u local j2ee engine )

message server port : 3601 ( ur message server port )

click ok

check in j2ee engine view if u see green symbol then ur all set to deploy ur application if ur using remote j2ee then make entry in host file

goto Run> type drivers> etc --> hosts -->

make entry for ur j2ee server

ip address Hostname

u can findout Hostname of ur server

in j2ee engine view in NWDS just click on green symbol of instance symbol

on the right side u can see HOST : hostname

use this hostname to make entry in host file

Hope u solved ur problem now if still not then let me know

regards

Hi Robin,

Please check message server settings on

visual admin tool:server->kernel->cluster manager

and check ms.host and ms.port values from the table. If you do your J2ee settings according to these values it will probably work fine.

The reason might be that (you are getting SDM error is) ,at the previous versions there was settings for SDM in preferences and you had to set the port number for SDM ( which might be like 50018 + 100 * <instance number> ). There is no specific settings for SDM in preferences anymore.

Hope that helps

Hi There

Give the Message Server in IP Address Format.

Give the Message Server Port as 3900

That will Solve Your Problem.

Hai Robin,

In your file system :windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

Add your host and ip adress.

If your SystemInstacne Id is 00( host:50000) then port nuo is 3601

If your SystemInstacne Id is 01( host:50100) then port nuo is 3900.
