Process Chain doubt

Hi..

If I run a process chain with 4 branches after start how many background processes it will take for running them..?

Also is it advisable to design more parallel branches in process chain..?or to take a mix of both sequential and parallel?(I believe in this but if some documentation available on this do send me a link).

Before running processes in parallel you have to check for many paramters. Like database space, dependency of each processes.

If you are running process in parallel you can analyze background job for each seperately in SM37.

    Neo,

When you start a PC - there is a job for the PC called BI_PROCESS_TRIGGER that gets triggered,

the on it is only the individual jobs like loading etc that get executed - hence the parallelism is only for the individual jobs and not the process chain by itself...

    Arun

P.S increase or decrease the number of parallel jobs for an infopackage and this will improve your performance.. ( I think it is RSCUSTV21)

    Hi,

It's not advisable to have more then two or three parallel lods in ideal conditions.

If its more then that it effect system performance.

You can go for mix of sequential and parallel.

the process will depend the settings in your infopackage.

If infopackage contains data target and PSA in parallel then it will create lots of process.

    rest others are fine.

When starting 4 branches in parallel will make four processes if all of the loads are till PSA and data target only.

    Thanks

Hi..I checked in sm37 after running a process chain with two branches ...First BI_PROCESS_TRIGGER started then:

1.The two branches had individual processes.....which started simeltaneously.(start time was exactly same).

2.Later process steps (of each branch)started later....after the completion of its predesessors.

Arun RSCUSTV21 ..is for what ??(I think its for webtemplates etc!!...)

    ....

    Thanks,

    Neo
