Hello,
a few questions:
1. HCP enterprise account comes with a HANA XS Database. I'm not sure if this is a so called System Database or a Database that can be used productively.
2. From HCP trial i know the way of creating a MDC database. Is there a way to see what kind of database the one in the HCP enterprise account is?
3. Why is there to way to create tenant databases via the SAP HANA Cockpit to create a tenant database, even if this is described as possible in many tutorials. I simply dont have the tile where i can manange tenant databases, not even with the necessary authorizations.
Thanks in advance and greetings
Hello Johannes,
Please check the respective documentation at:
"Use Case
You want to use an SAP HANA database in a subaccount that belongs to an enterprise account.
Description
You can use an SAP HANA database in productive mode.
The SAP HANA database provides you with a database reserved for your exclusive use, enabling you to develop with SAP HANA as with an on-premise system. You have full control of user management and can use a range of tools.
For more information, see Using a Productive SAP HANA Database System."
Best regards
Frank

Hi Frank,
thank you a lot for your kind and fast answer.
I already found this documentation but I wasn't completly sure about it because all the different documentation about SAP HANA is more a jungle than a documentation.
Am I right if I assume that there is nothing like a real system database in this account?
best regards
Johannes
Hello Johannes,
If you do not have role sap.hana.admin.cockpit.roles::SysDBAdmin available to assign to your SYSTEM user, then you are working on a HANA tenant database.
Best regards
Frank
Hi Frank,
perfect. This really helps me and I appreciate.
One last question. Is there any way to jump of to the system database?
The corresponding links always lead to the tenant databases (HANA Account Cockpit, etc).
Or is there nothing like system database delivered with the HANA XS in HCP?
Best regards
Johannes
Hello Johannes,
I am afraid it seems that in the SCP one always only gets a HANA tenant database. If you wanted a cloud HANA system dedicated to you one option would be to deploy it to a cloud service like AWS, Azure or Google Cloud. The SAP Cloud Appliance Library would allow to do so quite easily.
Best regards
Frank
