Physical Inventory

Hi

I have come across a scenario where in, a physical inventory document got create for a material, where there was no material doc existing ( i.e. no transaction had happened against that material in the plant). Now I am worried how was that material was included in Phy Inv doc.

Can anyone let me know, it is bit urgent.

    Hi,

There does not have to be a movement for the Physical Inventory document to be created.

If the material has a storage view on the material master (which it obviously has in this case) then it can be counted.

Even if no movements have taken place it is still good practise to count the item, just to make sure that the qty is zero. There have been many times where stock is MEANT to be zero but when counted some stock has been found.

So this is certainly not an error and no cause for concern.
