HFM is one of the financial reporting system.
you can call it one of the legacy systems also.
Data is stored in SAP in certain tables in a way that when they exchange the information with HFM system it reflects in a certain way.
Lets say you have GL account 123456** it will be stored in HFM with different name ,so in SAP this information will be stored in certain tables so when users working on HFM pull out reports they get correct values from SAP.
