Can MRP be executed on Projects in SAP-PS where materials are Non Stock Items?

Hi All,

A simple question...

My client is operating in a make-to-order environment where construction projects are captured and defined inside SAP-PS

These projects have material requirements, but as these materials are often highly customized, they are generally driven by technical specifications and not a price catalog.

Therefore it becomes pointless to try and add all of these items onto a material master and run stock processes.

What I would like to know is that can we run MRP on these projects and automatically create the Purchase Requisitions, even though the materials on these projects are Non Stock?

Thanks - I look forward to the response

For Non-stock item, the related procurement normally will be created together when the requirement is created, so why you want to perform MRP for this kind of item?

      Hi Rachel,

Thanks for replying - let me ask the question a different way...

If a project requires non-stock material and if these projects are being captured in PS, is there anyway to automatically create the Purchase Requisitions from SAP PS?

you can add material in projects to create reservation on network (material master settings - procurement type E, Ind/coll requirement -2, ).This will create PR on network that will be non stock material
