Notes about this process that require attention to detail:
• Do not select "Empty catalog contents first". This will remove all items in all manually assigned catalog areas. (This is used only when doing a complete reload of the whole catalog)
• If uploading only the Full or Thumbnail images, be sure you select which type of image, CRM_Image (Full) or CRM_Thumb (Thumbnail) you are uploading. However, using column 4 in the tab-delimited file alleviates the accidental placement of Full images in the Thumbnail folder or vice versa.
• No image or wrong path will cause it to load the previous document (instead of leaving it blank)
• Uploading an image to an item already in the same catalog area will cause neither image to display (browser session will display blank and you will have to manually delete one of the extra images to fix it)
• Loading a file with no images produces errors and Bogus SAP image names, etc.
I do not know of a BADI for your second request. We use R/3 as our back end system and wrote an LSMW to upload Basic Data Text to the material record there. Be sure if you do that to have R/3 flag the item as being changed so the text will replicate over to CRM though.
