Hi,
My scenario deals with Stock Keeping Units (SKUs). The client owns the technology and have the vendors manufacture all the parts( I guess the client supplies these parts as well) and then the client sells them. He uses SKUs for his planning. The finished good,a SKU, has many components and hence there is a BOM. Now, the forecasting has to be done for the SKUs and the components involved.
Here are the questions:
1. Can I use the word BOMs for SKUs?
2. How is SKU planning handled? I am sure this is a common scenario.
Thanks.
Hi Visu
i did not get your first Q. "Use the word bom for SKU's?'
You should be able to do the Forecasting using DP BOMs
the basic steps would be
1.to create the PDS/PPM to be used with DP (can be done from a PPDs or SNP ppm)
2. Create a DP bom relevant POS which will bring in char 9AMATNR, 9ABOMID, 9ABOMIO, and 9APPMNAME
3. Create a PA based on this with a KF for SKU dmand and another for dependent demand. set the Key figure semantic 401 for the independent demand key figure and 501 for the dependent demand key figure.
4. Initialize PA and Create TS objects
5. Create a planinng book with two Grids. Top for SKu and bottm for the components
Load data and use the icon for view dependent objects to see the dependent demand
You can do your forecasting for either levels.
So in most cases, you can forecast for your SKU and explode the forecast at the components level
