Workflow Task custom status

Hello Experts,

I have a requirement to have the custom Workflow task status instead of Standard Status provided by SAP like, STARTED, CANCELLED, COMPLETED and so on ( configured in table SWWSTATUS).

We need to set those custom status based on user action or via a report.

Please provide your views if its possible, if yes how ?
