GRC AC 10.1 Mass update roles listed in file

Hi Guys,

I have to update one field (Role Sensitivity) in more than thousand of roles.

I have the list exported to an excel file, I can do it in a way that does assign only one value to all the roles, so mass update would work perfect, but...

I don't see any option of selecting the roles from file. I can only select them by name etc.

Do you know any way of automating the task, because copying the name more than thousand time and updating it one by one doesn't seem to convenient?

Is downloading and importing roles to GRC only solution (seems risky)? Any ideas?

Ad1. And how do you download the roles for upload? The /GRCPI/GRIA_DNLDROLES only allows me to download roles present in GRC ABAP system, not the ones from repository, and don't have all the repository data like Role sensitivity etc.

If you are just changing the sensitivity, then search all roles from NWBC and export all the roles to excel, change the sensitivity, resave the excel and upload from NWBC.

Doesn't seem so easy. Role import template file is text file and has much different structure than the excel file exported. It also needs 10 character Business process and Subprocess names, etc.

Where do you get an option to upload the excel file?

The download file is in excel,The upload file is not excel, we have to save the excel as Tab delimited(.TXT) and upload.

Thanks

Sebastian,

As you mentioned we have two options

Option 1 : Download all the roles and change the sensitivity and reupload - This is quick and easy

Option 2 : Role Update has the option to update sensitivity in mass but there is no option to upload roles, you only need to do in parts if the role naming convention is not aligned(Ex:E* will bring all roles but if you have someother name its a pain).

Thanks

Ramesh
