Certificate Popup on Java Applet Launch in EP7

Former Member

We are in the process of migrating to EP7 and have are getting "Warning - Security" popups saying that the Web Sites certificate cannot be verified when testing iViews which launch Java Applets (e.g. HTMLB Chart Tag which invokes an applet to display a chart picture).

The Name and Publisher on the certificate popup are the same as the alias for the portal.

We are on EP7 SP10 using SPNego for Authentication.

Thanks (and points) for any help or advice you can offer.

Steve.

Steve,

We have had this problem too but only a few cases of it. Here is a workaround that works for us.

In IE, go to tools, options, then click the security tab. Find the setting "Don't prompt for client certificate selection when no certificate or only one certificate exist". Clicking on enable, saving and restarting all browsers should clear up the problem.

Hi Steve,

Joshua is right.

I had this problem when I installed some certificate for https on EP7.

I did a reg file that make it easier to configure profile/client pc.

If you want it, let me know.

Joshua/Brad,

Thanks for your answers on this.

Unfortunately this is not something we can easily do on the 100,000+ user browsers involved so are looking to SAP for a solution to this issue from the Portal end.

Thanks,

Steve.

Yes, we have the same problem (number of users) so we are rolling this change out to our users as group policy change.

Just to update this thread, we solved the problem by installing Externally Signed Verisign certificates in all are portal systems signed to the Load Balanced URL.
