Changing from Order based costing to Product Cost Collector based costing

Hi Team,

My client is currently using order based costing. Which means the actual cost and the planned cost is collected and reported at a process order level.

Due to the reporting level advantages provided by product cost collector(PCC) based costing my client is asking if he can switch from Order based costing to PCC based costing keeping the existing process order types.

I understand that there is a check box in the Order type type dependent parameters( COR4) cost accounting tab to activate the product cost collector based costing.

Can you please suggest if it is possible to activate this checkbox for a order type and switch from Order based costing to PCC based costing provided there are no open orders in the system which have actual cost loaded on them.

Hi vinit

It's possible to user product cost collector as a cost object. All you need to do is

- check costing variant for product cost collector

- Check Order Types for product cost collector

-Define Cost-Accounting-Relevant Default Values for Order Types and Plants

- create product cost collector using kkf6n

Then you start creating process orders as usual, the changes would be:

- the process order will not be a cost object again

- the reporting, closing process will be performed on product cost collector
