Hello All,
I am using Portal 7.0 (2004s) SPS7. I am trying to assign Java developer role to myselfs.
But, never this role is displayed at TLN..... Any changes done to Portal 7.0. Please help me where I went wrong. Appreciate your time and valuable inputs.
Kind Regards,
Ravindra.
Ravindra,
Habe you installed PDK?
If PDK has been installed and the epa file has been imported to Portal a role
called com.sap.pct.pdk.JavaDeveloper will be added to Portal. This is available on SDN itself.(3 files , i think)
You would need to assign this role to the user.
If role is not getting dispayed , it cud be an entry point issue.
Regards
Vineeth

Hi Daniel,
Sorry I was trying to assign
SAP_JAVA_NWADMIN_CENTRAL
SAP_JAVA_NWADMIN_CENTRAL_READONLY
SAP_JAVA_NWADMIN_LOCAL
SAP_JAVA_NWADMIN_LOCAL_READONLY
SAP_JAVA_NWADMIN_LOCAL_READONLY
Now, I realise that these are not required roles for PDK samples. Can you please guide me the correct process in this regards.
Thanks in advance,
Ravindra.
Hi Anil first u need to install the pdk .pdk contains javadeveloper role
from scrach i explain the process----
> pdk you find :-> https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/downloads.
--> download the portal development kit 6.0 sp2
--> this will include the JavaDevelopement role when you import the .epa file.
-->There will be a .rar file. U Just unrar it using winrar and then you can get the .epa file.
--> which you can import the portal
-->For importing you Just logon to portal and fallow the Path
System Administration--> Transport-> import
like that you import .epa file.
then u go to User administration--> Roles->then u find JavaDeveloper Role
assing that JavaDeveloper to User.
then finish
Hi Ravindra,
yes, you need access to sdm tool deploy the package using SDM. May be the error Thrown while uploading *.epa file in EP, may also be because of authorization in EP.I am not sure of what was the cause of your error.
This is just another tool for portal development. if you need it, try getting access for Deploying the same. Else, if you can tell me what was the error you got while deploying EPA files in EP, we can know the cause and how to solve.

Hi,
Look here: https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/downloaditem?rid=/library/uuid/cfc19866-0401-0010-35b2-dc8158247fb6
The standard way to do it is to install the developer workplace, which has all the tools, including a netweaver installation, all together.

Hi Ravindra,
You Try Unziping the Files. You will get some EPA and SCA files, mostly it will be with the name pdkcontent6090.epa and com.sap.pct.pdk.epa and pdkjavadoc6090.sca and so on.
You can Deploy the SCA files Using SDM(software Deployment manager). Usually, People Upload the EPA file in the Portal. But, It can also be Uploaded Using SDM. Sometimes, Portal will Throw errors because of Library references and some more. many of of such Error thrown by EP will be Taken care by SDM. Try Deploying all the file using SDM. once deployed. restart the server to make sure, and log in as administrator to check whether the PDK is Deployed in the portal or not.
Once You get Java Developer in your EP, You can Search for java role and assign the appropriate role to you.
if you were not able to Deploy using SDM. Let me know the Error Log you got in EP, May be We can Try to help you better if we know what the error was. Mostly. SDM can solve the problem of Deployment.
I Hope This will be helpful.

-Shabir.

Hi Ravindra,
If you do not have permission to deploy the SCA, you cannot use the PDK Business Package.
You should know, however, that this business package is not essential to do portal development, as much of it is either links to existing utilities in the portal (many under System Admin --> Support) or smal samples, many of which can be found in the portal developer guide.
