As suggested by Patrick here, cookbook is the perfect place to get information about AIF. It is an add-on to the SAP back-end system, which enhances monitoring and error handling functionality in back-end. It provides a framework to implement logic in a way that business user can be provided more authority to monitor messages, instead of vanilla proxy and IDoc monitoring that is available.

Regarding your question about how to connect to AIF from SAP PI, there is no such configuration required in PI. You would still connect to SAP back-end application using proxy/IDoc, but the processing logic of proxy will be implemented within AIF framework.

Hi Vijay,

I haven't personally worked with AIF beyond some basic exploration but take a look into the AIF Cookbook for a compact introduction to the topic.

Hi Vijay,

It will be SOAP/HTTP_AAE Comm channel for any type of connection to SAP AIF.

You need to setup the connectivity with SAP ECC where AIF is installed and it work's the same as like Proxy way.
