Hello,

We want to move our ERP 6.0 system which is already running on windows 2008 R2 MSCS cluster environment (SAP_BASIS 7.0 SP34) to windows 2016 and SQL Server 2016.

Has anyone experienced MS Cluster Services on Windoows 2016 Environment?

Are there any new features, adventegous of windows 2016 and SQL Server 2016 according to 2008 versions?

Anyhelp will be appreciated.

Thanks and Regards,

Yuksel AKCINAR

Hello Yuksel ,

The upgrade is possible for SAP systems based on SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SR3 (SAP_BASIS 7.0 SP14) and higher.

You can find information about this question in FAQ for Windows and SQL Server :

Hi Yuksel,

I would check whether target Windows version supports my current SAP platform or not (Your system is running on 7.0 so I doubt whether it is supported on 2016 versions without an upgrade).

And also from OS point of view there would be many changes between 2008 and 2016 versions which are not specific to SAP.

from DB point of view - Your source and target are same so no changes....If you compare 2008 and 2016 versions there are lot many changes and features available...Ex: 2008 doesn't have "AlwaysON" feature but next versions have this etc..
