Archiving issues in b1 8.82

I am trying to archive my sap setup, but can't proceed. This is the message.

To continue with data archiving, contact technical support; see log for details.

I can't find the log so not sure what can be the issue. I used sql server to run my backup. Right now in an odd situation as the file server can't acces files from my sap server and vice versa. Would that be an issue?

Hi Jonathan,

As far as I know, the archive tool makes its own backup, and there is no way around that. For that there needs to be enough space in the SQL Server installation's default location for backups.

Next (again as far as I know) the archiving process will create a new database with the data that gets archived in the company database. That takes space as well.

Depending on how your sap server makes use of your file server, network problems between the two can be a problem, or it can not matter at all. However, connectivity problems between these two servers can also be an indicator of a network problem that affects the relation between the SAP Server and license server as well.

At any rate, it is probably a good idea to solve any issues in your network, and rule that out as the source of the problem.

Regards,

Johan
