Hi Experts,

my client is planning on migrating his BW system to BW on HANA. We are running multiple planning applications on the clients system based on SAP IP were we are using InfoCubes for capturing and handling plan data.

Due to design reasong switching from an InfoCube planning to DSO planning is not an option. But instead of course it would be possible to swtich from InfoCubes to aDSO acting like an InfoCube.

My question is if this would bring the client any benefits in regards to simply sticking with the standard InfoCubes. One reason to switch to aDSOs would of course be BW4/HANA readiness, but I am more interested in any technical benefits from switching to the InfoCube like aDSOs.

Many thanks in advance,

Hi Tobias,

BW-IP, PAK is part of BW so planning has to support the BW main objects anyway. With respect to planning the following more technical aspects come to my mind:

- aDSO use the new request handling (save in planning creates a new request)

- cube-like aDSO has build in 'audit feature' in the request infrastructure, no need switch on the audit feature any more

- better support for characteristics based on HANA views with navigation attributes in aDSOs (cf. note 2374306)
