Default a value in field

Hi,

I am trying to default a value to the field so that it's not required to be entered again and again. Say currency. Is there a way to do that..

What i tried was, get the parameter ID and the go to User profile -> own data -> Parameters and enter the parameter ID and value there... but it didn't work...

Does anyone have any idea on how to do that... I need this urgently..
