Hi Experts,

I maintained product unit.

My uoms are like this: M2, M and ROL.

Roll lengths varies and hence M2/Roll varies with each batch. (Each roll is a batch).

So, my idea is, once i enter the roll lenth, the M2/roll should get calculated.

I am unable to get calculating the conversion factor from base units of measure and product units. How to get the conversion factor is saved as a characteristic value in the batch classification.

Hi Sairam,

You can create product group depending upon the usage.

Say your company producting transformers,capacitors

Create product group TRANSFORMER,

CAPACITOR in MC84.

Inside each group (transformer) you have to assign the member material and percentage for each material. say transformer 300A, Transformer 200A.

If sales order comes for product group Transformer , depending upon the % maintained MRP will create requisitions.

If the info is useful reward your points.

Hi Sairam,

A collection of materials defined by user criteria.

These can be products, for example, from a similar product group, or, they may be finished products produced on the same machine when there is a bottle-neck. A product group can be single-level or multi-level. Product groups are multi-level if they include products from other product groups. However, the lowest product group in the hierarchy must contain materials.

Please reward point if helpful.......

Thanks

Hi Tajuddin

Thanks for reply.

I could get this way. Please correct me if i am wrong.

Product groups are the grouping of materials or other groups (if multilevel)

If i wish to use product group for planning, what would be taken care in creating product groups (example: is it required to group the material, those contain similar BOM)

How to take care of quantities of requirement of indiviual members in a product group,

If a sales order created for material X, and requirement element triggerred, how the MRTP run influences the product group which contains the material X.

Hi Sairam,

The criteria to define about the product gruop will be decided by the business like for example product group Soft Drinks in this one one can include pepsi ,cola, thums up etc and again within thums up you can divide 100ml, 250ml and 500ml as products. BOM and other master data will not be the criteria to define products group.

Qauntities will decided at product group header level...for example sales dept has decided to sell 100 pieces of soft drinks in east region of India and then they will maintain out of 100 pieces, 50% will be cola, 20% will be thums up and 30% will be pepsi.

Again 50% of cola product gruop will be 100% from this 40% will be 100ml and like wise.

Now you can create plan product group and break down te PG plan from MC76 you will get the sales/prod plan according to the percentage you have maintained.

Sales orders has no influnce of the product groups, products group will be used in MTS planning. Once you transfer the prod plan to demand management with active version then you can able to run the MRP for all product group from MD02 transaction with selecting the indicator "product group".

materials will be planned according to the requirements passed from the SOP to demand management.

Product group are two types... Single level if only products are members for this product group OR multilevel if product groups are memebrs to the product group.

You can cumulate the all similar products into a product group according to the best availabe criteria for the purpose of sales/production planning and create sales/production plan across the product group at one time with proportion of percentage..this will give complete overview for all the products within product group. And you can also change and dispaly and transfer production plans at one time by using product groups.

You can perform the ATP check from MD47 transaction (planning situation) for the total product group.

If helpful rewards your points.

You use product groups to reflect the supply relationships between the subsidiaries in your consolidated group. Product groups are the basis for entering the additional financial data for the group-internal inventory transactions.

The criterion used for the classification and aggregation of the individual goods is the similarity in the type of goods or in the use of such goods. These products are then clearly aggregated.

However, the elimination of interunit profit/loss in transferred inventory occurs at the higher aggregation level of inventory items. Therefore, you must assign an inventory item to each product group.

A product group groups together products (materials). The criteria by which this grouping takes place can be defined individually by each user.

For example, the products may be similar to each other in some way, or they may be finished products that were produced on the same machine.

A product group can be multi-level or single-level. A product group is multi-level if its members are other product groups. However, the lowest product group in the hierarchy must contain materials.
